In the tradition of giving back to the community, $5 of every book purchase will be donated to the Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Project. The Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Project works to restore the fragile native forest on the slopes of Mauna Kea volcano – the tallest mountain on earth. The critically endangered palila, a finch-billed species of Hawaiian honeycreeper, is found only on the southwestern slopes of Mauna Kea. Due to centuries of land transformation and deforestation, only 2,000 palila remain.
